You capture your love of birds so beautifully in this post, and your pictures are very special. I've seen a lot of frogs in my garden this summer (I live in Stellenbosch, South Africa, where we are having very hot days), as well as dragonflies, wasps, robins and rain spiders. Wilderness is everywhere, if you keep looking.
Thank you so much Carri, I'm glad you like my photos. I am very jealous of your garden frogs! It sounds like you have a wonderful lot of different species visiting you. I'd love to see some photos of your garden if you have any.
And I think 'wilderness is everywhere, if you keep looking' is so beautiful.
Thank you Rebecca. I do love my garden; it's not very big, but it's my little piece of wild. (I do have pictures, but for some reason they don't want to paste here, sorry.)
So exciting and such a cute bird! I live near a National Wildlife Refuge, in New England. We typically have snowy owls here in the winter but have not had any. The bird paparazzi can get quite intense here when we have snowy owls.
He is so sweet! Wow, that's amazing to live so closeby. And Snowy Owls! I'm so jealous that you have them in the winter, they're not a bird that visits Scotland. And yes, I can imagine that many people flock in their numbers to take photos, but it's always important to put animal welfare first. I wonder why none have visited this year, maybe it's too warm? A sad reality I think for many of the animals.
I imagine it is the weather that has kept the snowy owls away this winter. it has definitely been a warmer winter. Another raptor I have seen less of this winter is the Bald Eagle. They usually come down river to fish because the river rarely freezes where I am, 2 miles from the ocean.
What a cutie! Great photos and sounds like such a lovely walk. We encountered some Snowy Plovers on a recent beach visit. I wrote about it in my recent post. I only had my phone with me though so photos were not the greatest since we gave them plenty of space.
Thank you! And Snowy Plovers is such a sweet name, I've just had a little look at your post and they are so sweet! And that's the amazing thing about seeing birds, it doesn't matter what type of camera you have, just seeing them and capturing what they are doing is enough. And I fully appreciate giving them plenty of space, it's something we need to do but unfortunately a lot of people don't! Thank you so much for sharing, I'll make sure to read through your adventures.
